President Donald Trump tweeted out late Friday night that his rally in Tulsa will be held on June 20.

The event was previously scheduled on June 19, Juneteenth, the day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

“We had previously scheduled our #MAGA Rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for June 19th — a big deal,” Trump tweeted. “Unfortunately, however, this would fall on the Juneteenth Holiday. Many of my African American friends and supporters have reached out to suggest that we consider changing the date out of respect for this Holiday, and in observance of this important occasion and all that it represents. I have therefore decided to move our rally to Saturday, June 20th, in order to honor their requests.”

Trump has received criticism for initially scheduling the rally on June 19, following the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck and the protests around the country resulted from the tragedy.

Tulsa was also the site of a 1921 massacre where hundreds of black people were killed in an area called “Black Wall Street.”

In a Friday interview, Trump told Fox News the rally didn’t intentionally scheduled for June 19 and the event was supposed to be a “celebration.”

“It’s an interesting date. It wasn’t done for that reason, but it’s an interesting date,” Trump said.
